Someone on craigslist has come up with a novel idea, kinda like widgetworks metal business card but this is wood. Looks like they are laser engraved but several botters also have lasers.

Well maybe this guy is copying you!:D I had never seen it before, I would think there would be alot of warping? Did you have that issue? Did you laser engrave or engrave on the bot?

make your cards. this is one I used to make I simplified it but I can't find a picture. I use 1/8" mdf and paint it black or buy it with one black face. They do eat up time though so less text is better. I have 3d round pieces I glue on the new ones so I can cut them separately. I plan it out so I don't have to cut a full 1/4 sheet because of time.

Jack they make wooden business card stock, you can buy it 500 or 1000 to a box.. for the laser they are the same thickness as a normal business card..and size..

Dan,
$3.50 for 50 isn't unreasonable to try out and I think would be a bit of a conversation piece but let me ask how did you make your business cards? Were they laser engraved? Has anyone engraved something like this on the bot? How would be the best way to accent the engraving?

Jack

I had my Best luck with ⅛" Sintra. My 1:1 drives don't have the resolution necessary to do small lettering on a card so I used a stick-on label on the back. I have done some solid wood ⅛" ones, but nearly always broke them in my pocket before I was able to hand them out.

sintra is a good idea. I only hand them out to visitors so breakage is not an issue.
but I like the sticker idea all that small text takes 10 minutes to do. Customers sure love the card and they get handed around.

Yes Jack, the laser is the only thing for those cards...even the laser will damage them if you get to heavy a burn..just a little out of focus works good on them...
