or something using 110v to turn on a 220v motor. with the failer of using x10 for my 220v motor if I cna turn on 110v to turn on 220v that would take care of my problem. a fellow made me a box with a motor starter that is controlled with a 110v remote. My load now is only 15 amps 220v so it is not a huge amount. but it would be ncie to control everything with the x10.

you should be able to buy a relay to do what you want.

Choose your control voltage & load voltage and how many circuits you want to switch you also need to purchase a socket. They are rated in amps so you need to know your load to pick the proper size relay. If your control switch is a ways away you could purchase a small transformer to drop control voltage to 12V and run small control wire to the relay. There are endless options to do this your imagination and budget will dictate what you want to do.

I think this is what I want. 20 amps is plenty since the motors only draw 15 amps.

Sounds a lot more complicated than it needs to be...I sure wouldn't be using X10 stuff in my shop as it is prone to a lot of noise & generally is the cheapest hardware money can buy. There comes a point where value trumps cost.
Why aren't you using something like this? (http://www.amazon.com/PSI-Woodworking-Products-LR220-3-Collector/dp/B00004S9AG/ref=sr_1_2?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1330790621&sr=1-2)

I was looking at other systems but most required a extra wire to work. I thought about separate remotes but the cost was too much. I would need two 110v remotes and one 220v and 6 remotes to do what I wanted.
I wanted to make this cheap and simple one control to do everything. I got the x10 pro stuff and wired controller and I will see. if it does not work I will just wire everything with three way switches.
