I found this seller and he has great prices. a bit limited on what he carries but the prices are great. I bought downcut 1/2" bits for 14.00 1.65" straight bits for 5.00 He changed to buy it now so you don't even have to compete. Plus free shipping.

These are great prices. :D

Just ordered 10 of the 1/4" two-flute down cut spiral bits for a large sign lettering job coming up.

Thanks for the headsup Steve!!!

Have you looked into whether they are legit?

Sure looks legit - check out the feedback, and how long they have been a member, etc.

But, as many US sellers, they dont want to deal to Canada. :(

Those prices are pretty good.

I am also going to order some of the 1/4" down spirals. Might also grab one of the 1/2" spirals but they describe them as both a "12mm shank" and .500.

I am buying a couple of saw blades too.

I just looked at the list. although some of the numbers are an Onsrud number most are numbers not in use by Onsrud they are vacant numbers left for future tools. so hard telling whats legit and whats counterfeit.

The HSS tools listed looked about correct as with some SC, the only way to really be sure is by the SO #
For those that ordered some you can verify the SO # on the shank to confirm if they are legit, but $80 for a $360 tool.......just a little suspicious

heres an example he advertises a 48-065 1/2" single edge carbide tip 2.75 oal The Onsrud tool is actually the 48-069 for the 1/2 Single flute Carbide tipped and is 3" oal
quite a number of discrepancies, so you might verify that your getting true Onsrud tooling

I found a post by the seller on another forum, and he describes himself as an Onsrud Rep. (scroll down to post 16)

That post is by Fred Phillips the inside sales manager at Onsrud, if its him selling them then they will be legit. they maybe overruns etc but would definitely be good pricing, I will have to ask him about the numbers on Monday
Gary

Edit: Just put a call in on these and they are legit Onsrud tooling which are discontinued or special run tools that are no longer available or produced therefore some are on old numbers which had been discontinued. So this clarifies the odd ball numbers and difference in sizes as compared to the catalog.

I bought a 10" thin kerf combination blade, 10" glue line rip, and 12" 96t full kerf miter saw blade. All three cost less than I paid locally for the Tenyru silencer blade I have on my miter saw, which isn't that great of a blade.

I also ordered a pair of the 1/4" down sprial bits which according to the product number have a geometry for soft wood in a listing I found on another site.
I will have to see how they cut, but for $7.00 I will take a chance. Worst case scenario I will save them for when I want to cut a bunch of OSB.

I ordered one of the 1/2" chip breaker/finish end mills to try. Not a size I use too much but for the price its worth a shot.

The markings look like other onsrud bits I have and they work great. I have bought a lot of bits and blades from him. The bits cut very well and seem sharper then most. Cheaper bits are never that sharp. So far I have used a 1/4" downcut 1/2" downcut and the sawblades and all cut well. I got a auto message today and the email was from onsrud.com The person is nice and fixed it when I ordered the wrong saw blade. I think I have had at least 10 packages from the seller so far. Now if he jsut had some 1/8" and 5/32 I would be set.

they work great I used the finisher 1/2" and it cuts really smoothly I use 1/2" a fair amount as I get to cut nice thick material. The blades cost me less then having my forrest blades sharpened.

I used a couple forest blades at another shop and I have never bothered to buy any for myself. All the expensive blades I have bought all get dull just about as fast as the modestly priced ones I use. If these are decent I am going to get a bunch more.

forrest were great for very smooth and accurate cuts. when I had my contractors saw I went from a thin kerf rip to a 40t forrest and it actually cut with less effort and smoother. but I don't need that anymore so it is not critical.

I have a 40t Tenyru Gold that is reasonably good, but I need to get it sharpened. I am currently using a less expensive version of the same blade that costs about $50-69.00 and it works pretty well.

I have also used a couple thin kerf 40t blades from a contractor line by Amana, but they pulled them off the market.

I have a thin kerf Tenyru silencer blade on my miter saw which is better than the Freud Diablo's I used in the past, but I paid way too much for it. I think I am going to stick with full kerf blades on my miter saw. I have had problems with the thin kerf blades flexing, especially when they start to get dull.

I have used the Forest WWII and they are nice, but I know if I buy one It will end up in the cabinet with all my other blades that need sharpening.

I've used a lot of blades in the past 30+ yrs. Forrest WW2 is one of my go to blades for every day use.

I'd try a few of these ones off of ebay but I'm not in the USA

you may want to call onsrud, and see if they will make an exception and sell to you direct. That may just be their ebay policy.

Is it possible to set up a "convenience" address in New York and have things forwarded?

I have no idea how that would work... wouldnt I have to know someone in NY to do that?

I will message the seller through ebay and see. sometimes they do make exceptions, but, many times they dont. Even though to send to Canada all you have to do is fill out a small customs form stating whats in the parcel and the value. Same as when I send something to the USA from here.

There are "private" postal services that have PO boxes for rent in their stores and they will forward mail and packages from there or hold for pickup. One in Niagra (US side) is called Can Am Mail box rental. Probably not worth it for a once in a great while thing but may be if you have a lot of this type of thing.

I was talking back and forth since yesterday with the seller, and it appears he will probably send me a shipment, if I pay the postage (which I assumed I would anyhow).

Cool! Let you know how it works out.

I got mine today.

The 1/2" chipbreaker finisher is one hell of a piece of carbide. I bought 2, and I might grab a couple more. I think these will get put to good use cutting 8/4 hardwoods.

My initial impression of the sawblades is that they are ok. I would compare them to a mid priced blade, at the very least. They did come packaged nicely.

I would not expect them to cut as well as the better $100+ blades that are out there. I will post a review when I am able to spend some time testing them but I have to get my vacuum motors ready for the electrician to wire tomorrow.

Well I ordered some bits, and a few blades as well (they are much less than anything I have bought, for the price I wanted to try them out).

Will let you know what I think when they arrive!

Well, the 4 saw blades and 6 bits I ordered showed up today. Everything looks great. The blades look like might be made by Dimar. For $24 each, they were a great deal!

The best deal of them all are the chipbreaker finisher bits. I managed to get a third, of the 1/2" 1.75 CL variety.

I picked up two of them. They would cost me about $80 to $90 each here.

My 10 1/4" down spiral bits showed up and they excellent. I contacted Onsrud directly to verify that they were in fact Onsrud bits and I was informed they were discontinued Onsrud bits and were being sold as excess. So I feel good about making the purchase.
