i have been struggling with the v-carve for 5 weeks and have barely come up to bat... is there anyone in or near murfreesboro tennessee that i could hire to come and help me get started...?

hi curtis... i have watched the 'bulls head' and 'open' and 'shortcuts' videos for 5 weeks... i print outs of the first two... and cannot seem to get moving... i have my image quartered for mirroring... something i am doing not right with the mirroring tool... and i cannot get totally smooth curves even with fiddling with node editor for hours....

To get smooth curves when node editing you need to hover over the points that aren't smooth and press S then you can use the bezier handles to smooth it out from there.
You could also try selecting the vectors and use the Fit curves to selected vectors tool.
For mirroring just select the vectors. Click on the mirror selected objects tool and click the settings for what you want to do.

Remember in a "raised letter" V-carve, you are creating TWO tool paths with TWO different bits. Usually an end mill to clear out most of the material, say at 50 percent step-over, and then a v-bit to create the edges of the raised letter.
If you are creating a "V-grooved" letter, it is just a v-bit that is cutting to a given depth between two lines of each letter. A font with two lines is required.
