A useful thread (selfishly useful, but also of value to all) seems to be "What is the apporpriate preventive maintenance program?"

Regularly I intend to ('intend' because I've only been running about a week)

1. check the cables for defects (occular and possibly electronicaly)

2. glance at the brushes on my PC

3. check table for level and flattness

4. check control box for dust buildup

5. validate functionality of limit switches

Am I missing any steps - mechanical or electronic?

Clean and grease the racks.

Check the tension springs on the X and y axis.

Check that the guide bearings on the y axis are ALL doing their job, the paint / guides do wear and the bearings become loose and require resetting.

Check that your axis's are still square.

And of utmost importance make sure that the beer in the fridge is always fresh and cold!

I inherited several sets od Porter Cable brushes when I bought my business. I'm now running out - the local PC service joint claims these are not user-replaceable and will not sell me the brushes.

Does anyone know of an online source for these?

Thanks in advance

Try this, http://www.toolpartsdirect.com/. I would try not to deal with the company you mentioned. I have never had a problem getting parts. I am pretty sure that Porter Cable will sell you any part you need also.
Good luck,
