After installing my "new bed", I was tuning the beast, resquaring the Y-Axis, and BINGO- the cable released itself from its' tie, Ahh..dreams of a ShopBot only eight feet long.

Anyone got any good Ideas on how to secure the cable ends, still keeping the alignment right?

Ron, I forgot to mention, I vice-clamp the taught cable to the strut past the turnbuckle to mark it proper length; then when everything is in place, I thread a wire tie around the strut and through the eye of the eyebolt to keep it from turning loose.
I'm not sure what you mean by "tie". Is it the eyebolt that screws into the turnbuckle with the cable attached? If it is, I stopped mine from vibrating loose. The turnbuckles ShopBot supplied were round in the barrel. I replaced them with hexagonal style turnbuckles and hose clamped them to the strut. If you are referring to the aluminium ferules that you squeeze tight around the cable, try two at each connection and kink the extra cable before snipping it off.
