I got my Shopbot back in 2006 and probably the month before I got it I asked a couple hundred questions and got answers to probably all of them, most of which were self evident once i got the machine but having asked those questions i was well prepared for many, not all, of the things i would encounter.

With the exception of one guy years ago who upon asking a question sniped "figure it out for yourself" everyone has answered my questions and helped me and I in turn have tried to help others as much as I can. I have learned alot form many of you and have gained some good friendships on and off this forum. I just thought this was a milestone worth noting!

I just wish Ted was paying a nickel for each post...i'd be a (semi)-rich man!
Thanks to all who have helped me over time.....:D

Jack
If you were like me... those first 100 postings seemed like they took forever! Oh to be labeled a "Senior Member"! After that it's just a blur.

Congratulations and thanks for your help and encouragement!

Steve

PS: Sometimes I wish the post #s would stay sequential... Some silly questions I asked years ago would be better understood in the context of "post #3".

I am coming up to my one year as a registered member of this board, and I have only been a shopbot owner for a little over three months (hard to believe, feels like I have had it for years already!)...

I have found there are too many awesome guys n gals here to mention. Always eager to help, and answer questions or share ideas.

Jack, you are always good for advice :) Thanks!

I don't know Jack, I've been here twice as long and have 1/3 the posts. I guess some people just like to talk more than others! Or have more questions - or more answers? I wonder how many fewer posts you would have if they didn't count the bad jokes?

Just kidding of course - I've lost track of how many times you've brought a smile to my face or made me laugh out loud with your replies. Keep up the good work.

Jack, you need to get a life. Spending all your time here on the forum is not good for your health. :D :D

Congrats!

Hi Jack! ... remind me never to greet you at an airport.

I remember we both came on board about the same time. And we are both still here. I've been quiet for a bit, just been so dang busy, which is good.

Congrats on 5000!

Hey Steve maybe we should petition Nancy for a new heading, instead of Senior Member..anyone with 5000 posts should get ( Motor Mouth )

under thier name..any votes on this...How about a "rare" coment Nancy..?

Could we thank you Jack for the superb help you gave us when we started out climbing that steeeeeeeep CNC hill! Ken Zey also bent over backwards to straighten us out plus we got lots of help from many others particularly on adapting overseas voltages.

Having started with a Legacy Ornamental manual mill the frustration I felt because the company absolutely sucks when it comes to customer service and customer appreciation slowly but surely a few of us owners found each other and started a legacy yahoo group like around '99 or earlier and we helped ourselves because the company absolutely sucks and still does even though they have moved in CNC they all but abandoned their manual users.

Having said that, I saw a shopbot demo'ed on a show called Cool Tools and to paraphrase Will Smith in MIB, I said..."I gotta get me one a dem!"

and I did....I came here and asked all kinds of questions that those who were forum veterans had heard a hundred times before and people answered my questions and went out of their way to help me on and off the forum.

Once i got it I called tech support several times while setting it up and they acted like they were pleased that they were able to help you solve a problem rather then you bothering them. I frankly was a little surprised by that given my previous experience and the state of tech support generally.

Because they make a good product that most users seem to like and have no major problems with I think it fosters a friendly helping attitude in the forum.
Because they have treated me so well I have stayed loyal and recommend them as much as I can.

I did not buy my Shopbot with the intent to use it fulltime but use it for my hobby and in my home renovations. It has served me well.

I have felt obligated to help others as others have helped me. I know some don't appreciate my humor sometimes and in 6 years i've only had a couple spats and i'd chalk that up to "personality conflicts".

Anyway..on to the next 5,000!
