I have to cut out a mahogany dash panel for an antique car. Can someone recommend a bit to get a nice clean cut?

I cut a lot of walnut on the bot. I havn't cut mahogany lately but when I did with other power tools it cut pretty similar to walnut. A shallow upcut bit from vortex tools. I can't get the part number until I go back to the shop tomorrow. When I say shallow I mean the less severe upcut like I would use for polyethylene. 1.8"/sec, .200/pass climb, finish conv.

I always now cut solid woods with a downcut or a two flue straight bit (works fine for pocketing out ) 3ips .25" pass depth (a little more if it is softwood) 8k. I don't usually change these unless I was doing a large run of something. works for softwood up to very hardwoods like purpleheart and such. I always if possible try to do a full depth cleanup pass. I tend to offset a normal cut verses using a climb cut as a climb can cause tearout in some woods.

mahogany is one of the more well behaved woods that you can cut. I wouldn't worry too much.

for sure. I found cutting faster and not as deep per pass really helps with the screaming. purpleheart is horrible in the noise department.
