Hopefully this is pretty different. took some work to get it to work right. light leakage and not blocking the light were some. This is easier then backlighting and takes less leds.

That looks awsome. I would like to know more about the details of how you got the lighting to work.

it is basically a edge lit sign. engraved face and LED on the edge. But it needs work. it needs to be opaque and so far paint as worked best. I used white and then black this one did not get the back painted and you see all the light leaking out. I used plastic spray paint as it is really fast to dry. I may try a reflective paint for the first layers.
I offset the letters by 1/8" then ran a 1/8" bit on the line at about .01 deep. You can't cut very deep or it causes less light to come through. but I am playing around to see if I get even light all the way to the top. a simple mdf frame hides the LED. though I will use something better if I sell them.

Looks cool, nice recumbent in the back.

Unique, original, different, distinctive, unusual, and other synonyms all describe the look this sign has... very nice!

Have you thought about plonking a thin piece of black acrylic immediately behind the clear? Nice job!

yes. I had tried gluing thin sintra and cutting the letters but it did not work well. so I painted the other face and recut it. then I peeled the sintra off and I did not want to take a chance on painting the other side and goof up the face. So I will either paint the back on future signs or glue something on the back. Maybe what I glue on the back will be part of the frame.
