I have an inexpensive dust shield that blows positive filtered air over my face...the shield is tough to see out of now after 5-6 years of use and I cannot be without this type of dust protection. Has anyone used the Trend Airshield Pro?? Or possibly you would have a suggestion for portable unit.
Thanks,
Dick

I've used both models of the Trend airshield and I didn't really get on with either.

I found the weight of the motor and the battery pushed it down too much and if I did the headstrap up hard to counteract that it was too uncomfortable to wear for long periods.

I use a JSP Powercap now which has an external powerpack. I find that to be very comfortable to wear for long periods.

perhaps Ron still has the Survivair fresh air system he mentions for sale.

you could polish the faceplate up with some work if you are broke.

I just don't want to buy something that turns out to be useless - willing to spend the money,(reasonable) to get the job done

You might try polishing a corner of it with toothpaste. If it doesn't work, you've only lost a few minutes of your time.

Actually, I do still have the Survivair system. Keep in mind that it is not truly a portable system. It uses a separate small compressor, with a 50' lightweight hose to supply the air. It does work well, though. The nice thing is that since it supplies fresh air, there are no expensive organic filters to replace on the mask.

I've never used one of these, but face shields like this are typically just lexan. If the manufacturer won't supply you with a replacement, then go to your local plastic supplier and buy a piece of lexan the same thickness and cut a new one. You have a shopbot.
