My wife just said, " By, I love you."

I said, "I'm just going downstairs."

To which she responded, "Yeah, you're taking off with your girlfriend... That cnc machine."

Oops.

All though we are both still very much alive we are widow and widower. My wife has her Nook and I my Shopbot. Maybe it's only that we are cheating on each other.

My suggestion: Get the ladies interested in making things in the shop. Then you can help each other, its a win-win. You get done sooner in the shop and can do things she might prefer.

Bev works in the shop with me, and its just wonderful. We have much more to talk about during the "talk time" women like so much. She contributes some of the best ideas, since she sees what we are doing from a different point of view. She also sees when I am barking up the wrong tree and suggests that "we" try something else.

The collaboration also extends to resources. She knows about all kinds of things from traditional "womens culture" like pins, fabric, kitchen gadgets, etc. Quite often one of these "cross-cultural" things is just what is needed in the shop. Did you know that a salt funnel is perfect for re-filling solvent cans? I didn't.

Working together like that extends outside the shop. When we are doing things anywhere its usually as a team. Two heads, one result.

Have someone post an updated picture on the fridge.. the two of you together making things.

Just a suggestion- best wishes!

Dana,

Very high praise for your suggestion. The other responses range from humorous to helpful- but yours is EXCELLENT. :D

That's how it use to be Dana, but we now have 2 kids and my wife is usually occupied with them while I work. Once they're both in school, I hope to have her back in the shop and so does she. We both miss working together. Many spouses have a tough time being with each other that much, but we loved it.

I prefer to keep my shop to my self... I am in the shop from sunday afternoon till thursday night. Then i go home from thursday night to sunday at noon... It is a honeymoon each week... Just sometimes she talks me to death and i can not always watch my shows for her talking lol... (MY SHOP WAS BUILT AND UP AND RUNNING BEFORE WE GOT MARRIED.. IT IS 2.5 HOURS AWAY FROM HOME... SHE TEACHES MUSIC AND STAYS AT OUR HOME IN STANTON KY... )

Why is your shop 2.5 hours away ? I would go crazyier than i am if it took 2.5 hours to get to my shop

I retired from the navy in 03 i moved back to ky in 08 to take care of my dad after my mom passed away... I built my shop out back of my dads house and started making items and developing customers in ky as well as other places. I had no intentions of getting married. One of my customers invited me to his home for a cook out.. He introduced me to his sister... I told her that i did not mind dating but i did not want to get married. She said the same thing... We dated from april of 08 then in june or 09 we planned a business trip in july... Right before we left for the trip we decided to get married. So we told our families, to meet us at pensicola beach on the 9th of july... We did the business trip arrived at pensicola naval base on the 3. Meet up with our families watched the blue angels show gave our families the grand tour of the naval base went swimming etc and got married on the 9th...
Shop was already built.. And i still needed to keep on taking care of dad, so i come to the shop on sunday and go home on thursday.... Works great... I DO NOT DRIVE BACK HOME EACH DAY... I STAY AT MY DADS FROM SUNDAY TO THURSDAY... I GET TO WORK AS LATE AS I LIKE.. OR ALL NIGHT IF I LIKE...
