I am cutting a. 75" sheet of ply at 14k rpms, 3 passes. I a, getting a very loud hi pitch noise. When I lift the z axis it does not happen so I know it is in the cut. I am a rookie to this, is this normal? I screwed the material down I. 12/15 places, so I dont think its vibration. What do you think?

Devin...
You dont give your move speed or bit type so it is hard to give proper advice. That said, the "squeal" is usually a result of too much rpm, too slow of cut speed, or both.

Ah, sorry. I am using a 4 flute at 1.00.

Devin...
I dont use 4 flute with wood as they wont generate enough chipload to stay cool. With a 2 flute 1/4" compression, which is made for cutting veneer plywood, I would cut at 2 passes @ 10.5-12K rpm, 4-5ips for an alpha, 3-4 with a standard.
EDIT: After reading Brady's post, I add: And it still may squeal!

1/4" tools are notorious for 'screaming' noises...This is true even on some tools running the scientifically ideal chipload from the manufacturer.
