What type of router/spindle

Im buying a desktop in about 3 weeks and Im going to use it strictly for sutting pearl and cavities in rosewood and ebony fretboards, would a router work fine for this or would a spindle be the thing to use?

Considering the type of materials along with the precision and control you have with the spindle would be the better choice in my opinion.
