OK so here's the other use for sinta!

Another couple of o scale (1/4 inch to the foot) buildings. These are made from 3mm and 6mm sentra. A section house and a round house. Lastly a couple of water towers with 1/4 inch luan bases cut on the bot with 4 inch pvc pipe for the tank. Enjoy, Russ

On the left a switch going to a siding, in the middle, various radius curve, on the right a switch. All of these combine to make the subgrade for a model railroad and of course the reason for da' bot!

Gene, I have sold a couple but under very specific circumstances. I am NOT a kit builder and do NOT include instructions per se. They are shipped as PARTS to build a structure. Before I retired I had a commercial layout building business and did not have a bot (boy would I have loved to have one then!). Now it is mostly for fun and the few pieces I have sold have been to those that understand the RULES! :) At my shop rate of $75 per hour nobody would buy them so I just sort of pass on my costs and a little to cover a little of the overhead. Not a viable business but an aweful lot of fun! :D

The layout I'm working on now is a joint venture with me and my best buddy, both of us are very active in live steam and are building our dream layout in our SPARE time. Russ

The power of the ShopBot and Aspire demonstration, drum roll please!

In one day I did the following:

1. drew in Aspire
2. cut out the pieces using a piece of sintra 24x48 by 3mm, 1/16th ball nose, and a 48x96 std bot
3. assembled the pieces
4. base coat of paint

Each structure is approx 5 in by 10 in by 6 in high.

Boy do I love having these great tools to play with! :D

The structures are not complete as they still need all the details like windows, etc,. but not bad for one days work with technology! Russ

Is it like mdf or a foam product ?

It is a PVC plastic sheet.

It is a pvc plastic. What I like about it is it machines wonderfully. You get chips like cutting good wood and very little if any melt back around the bit or in the cut itself. It holds detail very well and I've used all different kinds of bits to get really neat results. Mostly on the smaller models I use Beck's tapered ball nose bits but anything I've tried so far works great. I use mostly 3mm and 6mm but even the 1mm stuff cuts great. The sheets are flexible, even the 6mm, so a good hold down will give the best results. On the models I use just regular pvc pipe cement for the glue ups, really fast and cheap! :) Russ

I have some of that . I removed several pieces of that 2'x8' from a auto store i did some remodeling to . I wasnt sure of what it was so i laid it on my lumber racks and stacked lumber on it . i just didnt want to throw it out.
