View Full Version : Extruder help needed
Error message says " file contains CG commands" and won't work with the flipper, and that I'll need to re-geverate the toolpath and "use either inch or mm post processor". I've used inch, mm is only other option listed, so am stumped as to what it is seeing in this file generated using partworks.
Any hints?

Plain old ShopBot_Inch - NOT ShopBot_Arcs_Inch...Not TC_Inch either. It can't work with arcs, which is why you are getting that message.

Thanks Brady -
Looks like I need a little more help -
Though fully explained in the post processor editing guide, I'm just not able to trigger the "save as" pull down described in the manual, which I understand should allow me to alter the file extension (as well as type?).
Sounds simple simon, but I'm stuck.

What is the name of the post when you go to save a file out of PartWorks? You don't have to concern yourself with writing a custom post...Just download the post processors:
Post Processor Update - (28K) Updated 5/14/09
Download and save the attachment. Extract the files to the folder -
**C:\Program Files\ShopBot\PartWorks\postp
When the program asks if you want to overwrite the files, answer yes.
[Download now] (http://www.shopbottools.com/files/ShopbotPWposts090514.zip)
**If running PartWorks v3.5, then unzip to: C:\ProgramData\Vectric\PartWorks3.5\PostP
If you get an error when the program opens up, you'll have to delete the 'obsolete' post processors causing the error...

Version I'm running is 3.503 built 11-14-2011.
Only two file name options listed:
Shopbot TC(Inch)(*.sbp)
Shopbot TC(MM)(*.sbp)
Right clicking in hopes of opening menu for more options to no avail.
Perhaps latest version has restricted file naming options(?) Evidently downloading the 2009 post processor update contains a broader selection ?
If you get an error when the program opens up, you'll have to delete the 'obsolete' post processors causing the error...
Is this the only likely conflict I can expect by doing so?

Yes - Download it and put it in the PostP folder. If you have any problems, you can always delete some of them. You can also just copy over the ShopBot_Inch post by itself, which should not give you any problems. I believe the TC_Inch uses arcs, which is why you are getting the error message on the Extruder tool.

Boy that was fun!
Only took 30 minutes of searching. For anyone else using this thread to tutor themselves, just type in the C prompt with exact extensions and slashes as stated in the PostProcessor text file - or better yet, copy and paste it from there or Brady's post above -you'll never find "ProgramData" by simply browsing your C drive for the correct location to extract these post processors with Win7. Even the "Search computer" feature was unable to find it.
Now I've got dozens of Post processors to choose from, which I can see will prove handy as I further advance in utilizing this machine.
By the way - Am I the only one to try this, or just the only one to get lost?:o
Thanks to Bill Young for developing and sharing this technique with all of us.
And once again, thanks for all your help, Brady!!
Wish me luck as I head to the bot to carry out phase II.

Jeff - you have to 'undummify' your Windows Explorer view by going to Folder Options and change it where it says "Show All Files" - otherwise you WON'T see it just looking at the Windows tree.

If you're running a recent version of partworks you should have an item called 'Open application data folder' on the file menu. That will automatically open an explorer window at the right programdata folder.
