I see folks running a bit around an mdf door creating the "raised" panel, what kind of bit is that?

there is a huge variety of raised panel door bits to create different door styles when used in any number of possible combinations. They are usually listed in your prefered tool makers catolog under the category Raised Panel Door Bits

Cool, thanks for that info, I am heading over to the woodcraft store tomorrow afternoon and see what kind of bits they have and how much money I can spend.

I use the whiteside mdf door bits: http://www.whitesiderouterbits.com/catimages07/mdfdoorbits.gif

You can also make a good looking door using endmills, ballnose and vbits. Search for FreeDoors if you're not familiar with it.
