Eugene in my view this is the ONLY area Shopbot fall down in, as all they seem to have produced is that fantastic vid blowing out the birthday candles and a few very basic animations identifying X, Y and Z and how to zero. Think back to the Webex online class we both attended last Wednesday - you did not see one second of cutting. Coming from the metal idustry I desperately wanted to "hear" the things cutting, as sound tells you so much. Chip load tables are a fantastic starting point and we have bound all this info in a folder. I watched everything I could find of Gary's and did learn a lot BUT I reckon Shopbot need to put out videos of all models and particularly provide A-B comparisons of Alphas and PRS. i reckon this could even upsell many to the alphas. The videos that are on the Shopbot site will not run on an iPad and are low resolution. Vectric have this aspect beautifully covered with separate files. Say you are in the shop and want to refresh your feeble brain on prismatic letters - just fire up the iPad whilst you normal computer is still on design software. A similar approach to using SB3 would also be extremely useful because the written notes provided are simply TOO HARD for a dumbell like me!!!! I would love to learn how to write my own routines to speed things up and of course being in Australia we have no chance of attending a workshop. Without doubt I couldn't now live without the bot (or this FANTASTIC forum) and love the thing to death however Vectric have well and truly covered the software side beautifully and Shopbot should probably really focus on the actual machine use. Laguna are doing well in this area but we will never leave the fold!

Get goose bumps watching your work Brian! Lovely stuff! We have just started messing with air cylinders and at under $20 all over the place on Ebay with free freight -better than Bessey toggle clamps. Would love to do tenons but cant see how its possible on a Buddy. Has anyone found a fix for this??

Eugene, thanks for the kind words there are some carvers out there that are incredible, I probably will never get close to the level of some of them.

If you would like to see work from other carvers and get some tips here is a forum that I belong to.

It also has links to more sites and information.

There is a lot on you tube.
