Hello everyone,
It's been quite a while since I posted and I thought maybe a look at my control center would give ideas to those working on new setups. I got so tired if my cluttered shelf on the wall - that I made this.
Practical? Yes. Overkill? Probably. I used mostly scrap from around the shop. My control computer is housed inside the lower doors. There is a furnace filter mounted in the base and the cooling fans pull fresh air up thru it. So I have a clock, USB port, enclosure cooling fan temp controller, spindle remote keypad (Colombo), remote pendant, and spoilboard vacuum gauge - all arranged for easy access.
What do you think?

Cool. Whats the gauge in the lower right corner for? Oil pressure? :)

Almost perfect! In my shop it would need to have at least a single cup holder somewhere! :) Very cool. Thanks for posting. Russ

Your right Russ. I think he should redo it! It needs a mini fridge built in to.

Well now. The mini fridge idea is a good one. Someone build the next Control-Zilla with the integrated mini fridge!

Crazy...crazy cool! It needs a joystick and some buttons so you can play Pac-Man when your not runnin' the bot. ;)
Just a question/observation, if you're pulling air in through the filter as you stated, you're causing a negative pressure in the cabinet which will suck dust into the cabinet through any opening. Do you have everything sealed off completely?

Not quite. I do have the sides sealed to the wall with silicone. It would be better if the drawers and doors had foam seals. However, as it is the PC does stay much cleaner than when it was not in the cabinet.

Mr. Martin: you need to send that to my shop and do one even more fancy... put a cup holder on it for Russ, install a fridge for Kurt, put a few more vacuum gauges (right and left side)... other than that it is out of this world...and no it is not over kill.. it is a work of art.
I love it wish I had that talent.

simple solution... filter the air going into the cabinet first then thru a small fan which will put positive pressure on the cabinet.. this keeps the dust pushed out.

you need the aperture door on it to close the screen when not in use

Fantastic!
I vote for the aperature door.
Looks great just the way it is though.

Not sure about the blue, but I put positive pressure into my cabinet with the fan blowing filtered air in. That is how the big machine guys do it

Reckon you MUST be a Virgo Gerry! Only a Virgo would go to all that trouble to follow the wall profile. Beautiful work. We did a similar thing in out SB work room. It was under a mezzanine floor and roughly butted up against a corrugated wall. We needed to seal the room for sound and heat retention. Hopped on the bot and using scrap MDF we made 30 feet of wiggles that fitted perfectly. Just got the profile from the makers website. Yes you can buy foam to do this but the bot did it for virtually free. The bot has taught us to always look outside the square as you can really speed things up by working smarter as speciality jigs are a cinch to make and just so accurate.
