HI All , I have not posted in a while. Sold my shopbot and bought a Rover 30. Boy do I miss programing with the shopbot!!!

I am now ready to speed up my production more with a "Pre Labeling" machine.

Several of the big boys offer this at big big prices.
I would like to build one out of an old shopbot.

All I would need would be x and y location.
I have designed a label application device.

I was wondering if I an old shopbot would be best choice or if anyone any other suggestions. Maybe a mach 3 controller and some off the shelf parts?

On an other note, I was talking with a Biesse manager bemoaning the lack of knowlage of there own software was in the US. He said I was a very unusual customer to want to know things like how to use an output on the controller.

Guess they never had a shopbotter as a customer.
We know how to get the most out of a machine.
Once a botter always a botter!

Thanks
Bob

Bob, What you are describing is a "pick and place" unit. Google that and you will find many suppliers out there that have off the self units with or without controllers. Of coarse you could maybe even find a old industrial robot on e-bay that would basically do what you want? You are corect that a ShopBot would do what you want but that just seems like a waist of a good machine?
