I put together a display for our front yard this Halloween.

First I sculpted small models, then 3D Scanned them. After setting up the files for machining in Aspire, I cut them from EPS foam on the Shopbot.

Then I projected a video I found on youtube onto the faces.
Overall, it was a hit. People came from all over the neighborhood to see it.

Here is a video of the display in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kw-oSQ80R18 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kw-oSQ80R18)
Thanks,
JD

When i looked at the first pictures i couldn't understand why you'd cut something so "featureless".
But when you see the projected video it makes total sense. It must have been a project getting it all lined up to project onto the faces. Very cool!

I was anticipating a really hard time lining it all up. But it actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. In fact, I did it by myself. It would have been easier with a second person to hold things at the correct angle while I pinned/glued them in place. I got it done though. And I set it up at 3 locations as long as the distance to the projector lens was consistent, it was just a matter of adjusting the entire projector up, down, right and left. I had the projector mounted to a tripod, so this was a piece of cake.
