I often read about on the forum about com issues
or mysterious loss of steps or position.
IF it is a machine with a 3phase spindle and when you are at your wits end
after umpteen "maybe its this or that"
I think it would be wise to check for noise generated in the AC lines
by a VFD, or buy and install a line reactor on the incoming AC . no matter the length. even more important if the VFD is a new generation "mini" style .
, hi-frequency noise on AC lines AND the earth ground can affect switching pwr supplies, stepper drives,usb lines and even make your pc seem possessed,
