Searching for "soft" ~5/8" galvanized or copper strapping. It's the type used to bind together the wooden crates that glass pop bottles were originally shipped in prior to aluminum cans. (maybe even wooden barrels?) Original stuff even had edges rolled under for safety.

U-line/Grainger offer many types for strapping loads to pallets, but their tinsile strength will not permit fasteners to pierce. I'll need to punch dome headed brads through to acheive the desired look of the assembly. While I'm asking - how about a resource for a pneumatic gun to shoot those brads?:D

Short of hiring my neighbor to cut strips with his torchmate, anyone have any direction for a resource for this type of material?

Thanks!

Should be able to get copper strapping from a high-end gutter supplier. Some high end gutters have been done in recent years in copper, and the down pipe is held vis copper strapping. I hope it comes on a roll and is custom cut.

The other thing is, they are probably forming the old style round bottom gutter from rolls of flat copper. You might be able to take a length of it to a metal shop and have them shear it into strips- if you need long ones.

Then you can also look up metals on Metals4U and other sites and probably find it there, as well.

Good luck on the project.

Is there anyone in your area that does copper roofs? They should be able to fabricate the parts you need.

I'm not sure this is what you are talking about but you can go to lowes and look for a roll of strapping that has a bunch of holes in it used to hold water pipes or heater vents up in the plumbing dept. I've seen it close to where they keep the solder and soldering supplies. It's soft enough to roll up but heavy enough to hold pipes.
This is not copper...

Thanks guys - looks like copper is more readily available - will likely look nicer too. No online suppliers have answered my inquiries on availibility of other products yet...

Jack -
already looked there - like the price and common availability, but need it without the pre-punched holes.(too big, too many)
Also looked into galvanized "hurricane" strap rolls, but 1.2" is the normal width.
