Just ordered a Desktop!

I thought I would introduce myself to the community. After extensive research and debating, I finally ordered a Shopbot. A large factor in my decision was the support of the company and the community. I want to sart by thanking you for all the help I will likely need along the way!

I am an Aerospace Propulsion Craftsman in the USAF. I am currently stationed at Barksdale AFB in Bossier City/Shreveport LA. One of the main reasons I purchased the bot is because I intend to make plaques for members who transfer out of our unit.

I look forward to becoming an contributing member of the ShopBot Community!

I think you made a wise choice with shopbot. Great support and the machines ain't bad either. Plaques are pretty much what I do. I like adding a 3-d design to them and currently have one on the router letting it adjust after the cutting.

You will love your desktop. I love mine every accurate and while it might start out as stuff for your buddies, soon it will be signs, then inlays then all sorts of stuff you dreamed up.

Welcome Matt - I have seen the Desktop running at a couple of shows and its a sweetheart for sure. I have a 48x96 but a Bot is a Bot! :) The gang here is always quick to jump in when one of us gets in trouble, so PLEASE don't hesitate to ask questions, we have ALL been there! Russ

I gotta say that the support from ShopBot is Second to none. I was about to use the C4 command on my bot and support was supplied. Kudos to the whole team over at shopbot!

Definitely good guys at SB. They even help with the "Frankenbots" as much as they can.

Yep, it's great! That was a major factor in my decision 6 years ago and I've not regretted going with ShopBot for a single day.

The Shopbot Desktop might be small but it can really work hard... I had it working up to 8 hours straight in a garage that was just above the freezing point during my last winter in Canada. Wonderful machine and anxious to get working on it again as it's been in storage for close to 8 months now till I move in a few weeks.

By the way, you can do far more than just plaques on it... make toys for all the kids at your base!
