I wish to build a panel lift (tracks mounted on the ceiling ,rolling carrrage, electric hoist, vac pump to hold the sheets. my question is will a ring compresser that is a .5 hp H2O 49 and CFM 56 do the job? The largest sheet would be 5x10 3/4

Try it...with gasketing & start low to the ground.

Dan...
This may give you some ideas...
Air motor to operate winch, venturi vac pump for vacuum, Menards door weatherstrip on StarBoard for vac plates. Tractor supply Barn door tracks and trucks. A few air switches and some tubing:

Gary I like the idea. I checked out the venturi valves, do you have a suggestion as to what size it would take to hold a 5x10x.75 sheet . also air motor. dan

I purchased mine off eBay. The airmotor was a reversible paint stirring unit with a gearbox attached. (all I remember) The vac generator was a Vaccoon brand that put out 22-25inHg. With 2 pads that are close to 100 sq in each inside the gaskets, there is potential to lift near 900 lbs with zero leakage, neither the zero leakage or winch power to 900 could be attained.
