Hi guys, this might be a silly question but I need some input.
I am planning on changing my dust foot (not overly happy with original one).
My big question of the day would be, is it better to have a 4" hose or a 2" hose attached to the dust foot? (I would reduce from 4" to 2") What would give me good suction? I know the 4" would be more cubic feet per minute (what about suction). My blower is only about 850 cubic feet. I would prefer to go to the 2" or 3". Any comments would be appreciated.

I have been using a shopbot since 1999. I have experimented and played with various dust collections options on that old machine over the years. The one on my machine purchased last year outperforms all of them. I think you will be hard pressed to find something that works better.

The Kent dust shoe truly is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Two inch hose just wont work on heavy cuts.

I'm with Bob on this one...I have the Kent and it is great and makes for easy bit changes. I have 4" to a DC and picks up about 90% of the sawdust....which I'm happy with. I wouldn't go less than 4" hose.

Yep! Kent is a great shoe. That's what I'm running also. Also Harbor Frieght has a 10' 4" clear hose I coupled with their 1 hp dust collector. Works great. I know most of their stuff is junk, but these two things are gems.

I also have a Kent shoe and am very happy with it. I had them change the collection hole size to 3" to give me easier clearance on my 2003 PRT and have great dust collection. I also have a 3hp Oneida Dust Gorilla.

Is the Kent Shoe a commercially made shoe or a design by some fine
fellow named Kent?
