Would You Buy An Old Used Unknown Stepper Or Brand New One?

I am doing some upgrading to my old PR. I bought a retro Z off the forum and I need a motor for it. I found someone with a used one they bought used off eBay years ago, but never used it because they had made a mistake thinking they had a bad motor.

With shipping it will cost me around $150-$160. I can order a new one for $257 including shipping. I should spend the extra $100 and get the new one?

Buy new, if you can afford it, think about 1 job that gets ruined by a used unknown stepper, downtime waiting on the new one you are going to have to buy anyway, and the cost of the new one on top of the used one.

That was what I was thinking as well...especially as I typed the original post. I thought there might be a slim chance a large number of posters would say get the used one they never go bad...
