Well, the wife finally made me go down and do something with the Shopbot, My intention was to waste perfectly good sheet of plywood. But lo and Behold! It cut Wood.
Now I know to most of you folks out there, this is not a big thing, but for me, a perfect run on the bot has never happened before, so I had to gloat a bit and post some dull and boring pictures.
But, Bessie the Bot has potential.

yeah you're right....they are boring pictures:eek:
But that's what you want! That means everything went as planned...good job
Those look a lot like parts for constructing a vac-box ala Gary Campbell ....
If you think this is exciting, wait until you fire up that vac system - I still can't get over how awesome vacuum hold down is, even though I'm close to a year into it now.
You're gonna love it - keep pushin' - you're on your way - it just keeps getting better from here!!!!

And by the way, I'm jealous - did that 2nd piece of echain along the X rail come with your new machine? My new machine only came with one for the Y rail last February.
Might have to see about adding one for those side cables - tired of gremlins moving them around and causing lost comm issues.
jeff
I was noticing that... I would have made it hang down lower and/or used a smaller radius echain so it does not block access to that part of the machine.
That's just me though.

David, congratulations!
Just keep making things. Cut parts, try new ideas, etc. Dont expect every thing to work out perfect riht off the bat... but the more you cut the better you get.

David,
It took me almost 6 weeks and over a half dozens broken bits before my shopbot (WALLE) actually cut something without screwing up. Between hardware and software upgrades/modifications it was a very trying time. I almost told Shopbot to take it back until Gary C. (before he worked for Shopbot) came to the rescue. He had me up and running - reliably! This was back in 2009. It's been running pretty reliably since then.
It has had a couple of brainfarts. One really stands out - I turned WALLE and the computer off Friday afternoon after cutting 10 sheets of baltic birch into drawer parts. Turned WALLE on Monday morning and it had all kinds of problems. Turned everything off for the night after about 6 hours of troubleshooting (with tech support) and no progress toward getting a working machine. Turned everything back on Tuesday morning and it magically worked with no problems. Not sure what gremlins got into the machine over the weekend (when the power was OFF) but boy was it frustrating... No brainfarts since then :D

Yes, it looks extremley like a vac box. I have it all cut, except for the flip op. I havent quite figured out how to align that yet.
Gary helped me out too, he sent me an email, of course this was two or 3 days ago after he went to work for shopbot, 1750.00 per day for his expertise.

As for the X chain, it came in a box for 450.00 from shopbot, and the installation instructions wanted me to put it on the other side of the machine, but that would have meant me undoing all the wires and running them to the opposite side of the superstructure. So I implemented. It works great though.

Looks like it needs ... an air deflector shield on the router.
Is the vac hold down working well ???

Yes it looks cool too, I would try to lower it so it does not go higher than the side so you have access to the machine. But I don't have one like yours so who am I to say...

I just started cutting it, and yes, I gotta figure out how to get that air defelection shield working, because the router is blowing the chips away from my dust collector.

I just realized that I haven't named my Shopbot. It never even occurred to me. Huh.
I'm on it.

I can honestly say I have cqalled her more than Just bessie, today as a matter of fact, she was called everything but bessie.
Something to do with a pooch, and a slab of plywood.

if you dont name it how does it know that your talking to it? Unless its the tone in your voice
