Highlite

Okay, I have been here for quite some time but I have a simple question. When I go to a forum and view the threads and look at the new questions they are highlited. I may not open all of them and leave. When I come back to the same forum, and I open the thread they are all "non highlited" even though I may have never have opened all of them. It makes it quite time consuming to go thru them again to see if I read them all. Just a question I have had for some time.

Or you come to the forum and click on new posts and there is a lot of them read a couple of them and go back to work then come back to finish reading them and it says no new posts since last time you were here just wondering:rolleyes:

Did someone change something?

Before this post when I used the "quick links" "todays posts" I could refresh the todays posts list that I have already read. Now they stay dark blue or unread and I cannot tell if I have or have not read the posts, or if someone has posted something new...

I've actually noticed this for a while - at least something similar. It seems to take quite some time for the forum to update my view showing which threads have been read. Used to be a quick CTRL|F5 would do it, now, not so much... :confused:

Always signed in... something changed with the forum just over the last few days. Seemed to coincide with this thread, like someone tried to fix the OP's problem.

Nope, no changes to forum software or settings since I removed the forum's self-registration link in early December.

Seems the same to me as it's always been.

There's a cutoff time after which it thinks you've read all the new threads since your last visit. When I check the threads in the morning and then go to another site for a little while the new threads are still highlighted but if I go back to the site at some later point they're all "marked" as read.

Can't say I go to any other forums that work that way but it's the way this forum has worked since it switched to vBulletin software for my anyway.

Might be the endless browser updates that happen in the background might have triggered something for some people perhaps?
