Are there any issue with spraying WD-40 on any unpainted surface of the Bot?? Very humid here in Houston and I keep my Bot in the garage. Starting to see a little rust on the rails. Thanks, Oscar

I use T9 and it seems to work well. For working surfaces I polish it after I spray, for the bot and other non-working surfaces I spray it on and leave it.

Over time WD-40 will capture dust and gunk up-The two options mentioned above, as well as any decent silicone spray and/or Boeshield will have better results. Whatever you use do it quick before it spreads.

If your working with wood... I suggest avoiding silicone products... as an trace of silicone on a finished product will cause fisheyes in the finish.

I had the same rust problems. I solved it using an old candle. After running the bot I simply run the end of the candle over the rails. If I notice a buildup of wax I give the rails a quick rub with a rag. Real quick and easy. As an added benefit when I lean over the rails I no longer pick up the teltale rust stripe on my clothing.

Paraffin wax is sold by the block. I have several blocks I use on worm gears inside my saws etc... didn't think about it but I'm using it on the bot rails now. Still using T9 for the surfaces and drive gears.

Oscar, We are about 60 miles west of you and have not noticed a rust problem. Is your garage attached to the house? We ran a duct off of the central air unit and it works fine, and may be the reason for no rust.

Boeshield T9 is the best protectant you can use. Go to:
http://www.boeshield.com/index.htm
and look down to:
*Download the PDF article on Rust Busters

It is a test Wood Magazine did in March 2004

Yep, garage is connected to the house. I have a small fan that I keep running that keeps the air circulating. Seems to help a little with the humidity. Cleaned all my rails today and sprayed them with T-9. Well see how long it'll last. -OG
