For those who don't play video games, you may not know ClapTrap from the video game Borderlands. I couldn't stop after R2, so I jumped right into another side project between jobs:

The build diary is available at www.haffnersigns.blogspot.com but I'll post some of the pics here:

Here's what he looks like:

Here is the 3D model:

Here is the model all sliced up and carved into some foam:

Here's more:

Here is the wheel. I should note I added two slices of PVC in the center to give the wheel strength:

Once I had glued him together, I primed, sealed and smoothed him out:

Here are the "hand" pieces as 2 sided carves:

Here is his "eye". I used one of those "push on/off" closet lights...

Here he is almost complete minus a couple small parts:

A little closer:

And here is a picture to show scale: He's about 30 inches tall from wheel to his head- 39" to the top of his antenna. He's mocking the other robot in the shop:

You are having too much fun . You know if you build a few more of these and you get them programed right then you can sit back and just supervise .

I told my wife that if I continue making these things, I'll run out of room in my current shop. She said not to worry, there was plenty of space on ebay.

I told my wife about the clap trap, and she said she wanted no part of it, and that I should keep it far far away from her...... Strange, her response was not what I expected.
