Wondering who here designs in corel draw and then exports DXF or EPS to aspire.

I have found that the vectors are splines or segmented lines for curves. I do the fit curves to vectors in Aspire but it does not get them all.

Have not found an answer, but is there a setting in Corel where it will make the curves into arcs?

I just hate to see the machine jitter away while cutting.

It sounds to me as though your vector image is from a scan and that quite often is the case. I do not have a shopBot (wanting one really bad) but I do design in corel, and that is generally the case with scanned art depending on the setting that was used to scan the art. You may need to go in corel and do a lot of editing of the design by deleting many of the nodes and making that segment one continuous arc.

James,

I generally find it using text. So I convert to curves in corel, before exporting the DXF or the eps.

You might want to convert text to curves before exporting as a vector.

haha... nevermind

Going from one package to another by converting files is always going to have some drawbacks. It has always been thus.

I'm not familiar with Corel. Is there something it does that you can't do directly in Aspire?

Better luck when I export as an eps file from corel

Patrick

try exporting as an AI , I think you may find that to be even better than the EPS
I have a couple of sign guys who use Corel and the AI definitely works better for me

Word to that...Save out EPS from Adobe Illustrator & AI from Corel (older versions may yield better results, such as v7 AI). Seems weird, but it has worked like this for years.

Funny, I do my vectorizing and editing in Aspire then export as EPS to Corel for the laser or to Signlab for the vinyl cutter.

I find the vector editing tools in aspire to be much better than either of the other programs. I really like the trim feature for cleaning up stray vector lines.
