I'm a new ShopBotter and was curious as to the sales experience others had with ShopBot. Any rants or raves?

John,

The question you're asking is vague at best, almost like you're on a fishing expedition.

Maybe you should tell us what you're really after, because I doubt you'll get anybody to answer the question as you've posed it.

Shopbot provided a lot of help when I was buying my bot several years ago. Their advice was honest and to the point.

Far more important to me was the support I got after the sale. It is far superior to anything else I have ever purchased.

I have purchased 2 used shopbots one I was the third party to have it and the other was a 1 year old unit that was never opened up I picked it up and had to cut the bands to unpack. The support for both has been way beyond my expectations. I did upgrade the older unit to the 4 g controller and at that time I talked to Ted and he assured me that if it didn't do what he said that he would refund my money. I also talked to Frank before I bought my newer machine and he told me what to look for when I opened it. He was very helpful and honest.

The actual sale? Pre sales help? Post sale help and service?

For me, and I started discussing purchasing a machine almost a year before I went ahead and ordered one - all aspects of dealing with Shopbot was professional, and no BS.

After receiving my machine 13 months ago, I have only had to call twice for some minor help, but service was again very quick.

I have dealt with several machinery dealers/suppliers in my career. Some very good, some very bad. I'd put Shopbot's customer service up there with the best.

This forum is all you need to figure out how great this community and machine is. You won't regret it.

Shopbot takes care of the customer both before and after your purchase. My machine is 5 years old and I can call and get support from them with nobody asking for credit card to charge for service call or tech support. Between Shopbot and Vectric there is no better in the CNC industry for products and service....well except Precise Bits and the bits I sell. Sorry selfish shameless plug . lol ;)
This forum is also one of the best for help for your shopbot or cnc tips and tricks. Most guys are great and have perhaps experienced the exact thing you may be asking about and willing to share their experiences and knowledge to help.

The only thing i've purchased from shopbot directly was a small small order for a few gears etc. Even though I paid very little for my machine and wasn't going to shell out the money for a shop bot control system(that the machine i purchased was lacking) they helped me out with every question and even helped calibrate my Mach3 System without a complaint. I'm still not a fan of the control system it self as i run a PRT Alpha at work along side my old machine they bought from me. If i hear of someone in the market for a cnc router (specially those with no experience) i forward them to the shopbot website and here. For the money and service you can't go wrong.

Regards
Randy

P.S. Brady, butter and bacon are the things that makes life worth it.

Shopbot Sucks........PSYCHE!

I think what you will find is a lot of "Shopbot Toadies" (a term of endearment) :D those of us who like the machine and the company and the people.

Having come from a Legacy Ornamental Mill and their horrible customer service this was like a 180 turn. So I don't think you will find a lot of open criticism of the product or company because EVEN if someone is unhappy about something it isn't from the company not trying to resolve an issue because they do keep us happy without us having to constantly reach for our wallets.

Brady.he may have already "bought in" but he still hasn't been initiated into "B.O.B."("The Brotherhood of the Bot)

I take every opportunity I can to say nice things about ShopBot. I have owned 3 machines now. A PRT 4x4, a PRS Standard and now a PRS Alpha... They have all been used mahcines because I just could nto afford to go with a new machine. I have worked on issues with the first one, and ShopBot was awesome in helping me get it on track. I got the second one and went ahead and upgraded it a bit, because it was such a good machine and was so well suited to what I needed. Then my dream machine came along and I got it. ShopBot again helped me, with no quibbling- on getting the machine up and operational. They helped me upgrade it... not a series of big sales- but a couple of little "parts sales". Frank has been my go to guy. I have had just as pleasant an experience from Gary and Chris who helped me on some maintenance and support. There are always a few little glitches here and there- but ShopBot really comes through for you.

Conversely, I have spoken with a buddy of mine that has another type of machine and he is ALWAYS griping about break downs. He hates the tech support folks he deals with and the parts prices are apparently insane....

I was going to build a machine when I came across ShopBot. I am glad I didn't. I could not have planned out and built such a well thought out machine.

"Shopbot Toadies" Jack? I've always referred to myself as a ShopBotter... has a better ring to it especially when I'm busy ShopBotting! If I referred to myself as a toad, my wife might get the bright idea that she can kiss me and turn me into handsome!
