The specs for the PRSAlpha say it can generate "about 150lbs" of x/y cutting force. If I remember my units right, 1HP = 550 ft/lbs, so the Alpha ought to be able to cut up to 0.27 HP. Does that sound right?

I got a speed/feed calculator that gives you the required HP of a cut. Some of my challenges with big old 1/2" 3 flute end mills that are supposed to work so great on acrylic, is it seems they are designed for much more powerful machines. Using onsrud specs the HP on these come out to 2 to 2.5 HP. It looks like I need to keep it down to a max of about 0.2 HP, which might explain why I'm getting better results with single flute cutters that aren't as aggressive.

Does this sound about right?
