Ok, I've upgraded to the new version of Partworks (now called VCarve Pro ShopBot edition).

I really don't see anything monumental in terms of differences. Is there anything really "must have" or "amazing" that I missed? It appears to have a new license scheme. I haven't tried updating my other computers yet so I don't know if we'll be limited to one computer with this upgrade.

Hi John,

There are a lot of new features and improvements to existing ones. Click on Help on the Main Menu and select 'What's New' to get a summary. All the video tutorials have also been updated.

I assume the ShopBot version follows the Vectric license which allows you to install the program on up to 3 computers for a single user:

I didn't know about the three computer thing. That's great! I just upgraded to Aspire so that will help with that as well. Should I just work in Aspire from now on or use both programs? Any advantages of VCarve over Aspire?

John...
V-Carve is a subset of Aspire.

John, when you upgrade to Aspire from Partworks, your PartWorks license is nullified, unless of course, you have two separate PartWorks licenses and upgraded one of them to Aspire. You perhaps should check with SB to see if you paid the PW upgrade unnecessarily. They would not necessarily have seen this if you did the upgrades separately.

Gerald,

I'm just going to work with Aspire now. No need for Partworks, or the VCarve release that came out recently. Correct? Is there any reason to use VCarve again?

I didn't pay for the upgrade. I got it free because I have a new machine.

No, just think of it as PartWorks Plus :)

Prior to Aspire 4 the only time you needed both was when you needed to share files. Aspire now allows you to save in both formats. We use this feature a lot as mates without Aspire couldnt open our files. John you will be blown away when you receive your Aspire upgrade CD as the tutorials are easily the best we have even seen for any product - an amazing 44 hours. In justifying the upgrade cost just think about the charge of $1000 a day for training offered by the nearest competitor. Brilliant software made by utterly brilliant DEDICATED people!
