I Made a big mistake. I took the original dust shoe with soft plastic skirt and cut them down a half inch. I thought there was a lot of pressure on work service. Solved flex problem with dust shoe, but caused other problems. I have looked at shopbots web site for replacement skirting to no avail. Is it available?

Jeff...
If you don't find an OEM source, I cut strips from a vinyl hall runner for mine. It's sold by the foot at HD.

Jeff Shopbot do sell replacement skirts but you could bite the bullet and buy a Kent as so many of us have done. Worth every cent and a really nice guy to deal with.

ALL the parts on the SB dust shoe, including the thermoformed clear shell, skirt material/fringe & hardware, are available. Call SBHQ to inquire about pricing.

Speaking of dust shoes! the dust shoe on my budy48 is marginal at best. What's this about the"kent dust shoe"? where can I get some info on this?

Well, I tried 4 times to see if Shopbot has developed a better dust shoe but to no avail. I'm sure they have more important issues to deal with so I don't fault them in the least. But a clue about the "kent dust shoe" got me rolling. I bought one and installed it. Wonderful!

I swear by my Kent Dust Shoes. I have one for my DIY router and one for the Shopbot. I even bought the long and short versions so I could use shorter bits.

Can someone post a pic of the kent dust shoe installed on a buddy48. mine has a flexible hose that curves and attaches from the back of shopbot shoe. the kent seems to attach from the top and I don't see the clearance... Clarence.

Here you go Jeff - simply the best add on you can buy for your BT-48! This is an EXACT copy of what Andrew did. Makes for easy access to the collet. Sorry the pic s on its side!

I see said the blind man. For some reason I was thinking to run dust collection from behind and not over e-chain.

Thanks

I made this one a while back and like it as it seems to do a very good job. I like that once I set the height it stays there and does not go up and down with the spindle. and it makes changing bits easy. The small area that is covered helps with the collection also.
