Got the Diamond Drag - now what

I am going to be doing a number of brass plates to be put on trophies. After reading the forums I ordered and received a diamond drag bit. Unfortunately no instructions. I have a couple of questions;

1. What is the best way to set the "Z" axis. Normally you would use the grounded plate, however diamond does not conduct.
2. this thing is spring loaded so I assume that you set the Z depth to get a good line and the spring helps to hold it. What would be a good ballpark to tart with?
3. speed inches per minute?
