View Full Version : Moore Tornado
Thanks everyone for all the phone calls.
The devastation missed us by a mile. However it did level Ron's daughters house. My daughter's home was spared by a block.
It's too early to tell the survival numbers but no matter twenty kids is way too much.

Joe- good to hear your family is all ok. I also have family all around that area, the tornado seems to have gone "between" members, so we are all ok. I'm sure I know folks who got hit, I just have not heard the news through the grapevine yet.
I expect you will know a lot of people in the devastated area.
Living around here is like being in a lottery you cant opt out of.

Glad you guys are good. Please keep us updated and if you need help in some way let us know. Also, it's so hard to know who to trust to help, if you know of legitimate efforts to help, please let us know so we can make sure anything we donate goes to the right place.
One day away from this tornado I'm still amazed. Not only about the amount of deaths and destruction but how disguised it was.
For most Oklahoman's when we hear about a twister we all start gazing along the horizon. Many of us have seen twisters miles away and we'd watch to see what direction it was headed. It was almost a game with those but not this one. The horizon was dark, as well were the clouds. The whole thing was disguised with rain. You could hardly even see it. But it we could tell it big and black and was going to cost lives. Once we determined it was a mile or two north, relief turned to fear knowing what was happening.
This morning the weather was warm, soupy wet and dark. Rain made the rescue but there are tons of people trying to assist. Way too many of us wanting to get down there. Ron, my assistant, has a daughter down there in a house with no roof but standing walls. Getting there and removing their remaining belonings is difficult.
More later.
I'm glad you are OK Joe.
My prayers go out to all who were effected by this incredible display of natures fury.

Glad you guys are ok. The devastation. :( images are hard to get my head wrapped around. I had a tornado miss me by about .5 mile in 08. It was just an ef3 we usually only have 0s or 1s. What you guys wouldn't even close the shutters for. 8-10 steel I beams were literally tangled up!?!?!?
This ef5 on the ground for 45 minutes. Stealthing you to boot. Bet there were no atheists in those cellars....
I guess its what yall live with. Like we live with hurricanes. We don't know how to deal with tornados but hurricanes we are good with. Oh and snow seems to paralyze us too.
Anyway, rambling now, glad you are safe.

Have been watching it on the news up here in Canada as well. Awful thing to have happen to folks. All are in our thoughts and prayers. I was watching last night and seen about a teacher that covered over top of some of her students to protect them. GOD BLESS HER.
We donate to causes when this stuff happens as it is the only way I can help so if any botters have family that uses a certain honest and helpful organization I would be glad to make my donation to where I know it will be received to the folks that need it and not pocketed by some high paid ceo or scam.
