hello!
our computer we had setup with our shopbot cnc had the battery in the motherboard go out. windows restored and deleted all our software. I reloaded all the software.

I am trying to cut a pocket that is arch shaped. The CNC is just drilling along the arc over and over, rather than cutting horizontally. Any ideas? What setting do I need to setup?
Thanks!
Lee

Lee,

Not knowing for sure what software you are using, but I'm guessing that maybe the width of your arc pocket is the same as the size cutter you're using and it's only cutting where it thinks that it can fit. You could make your pocket slightly larger or edit the cutter diameter from say 0.25" to 0.249 and preview it again to see if now fits and cuts right, or use a smaller diameter cutter.

Post your file or a screenshot of your setup here to look at to help us help you.

partworks 3.503

pocket is about 1" wide and cutter is 1/4" wide spiral end mill.

Hmm, that center path looks suspicious. What % overlap are you using? Try 40% and see what it does.

figured it out. had to increase the stepover rate on the tool when cutting arch shaped pockets. works fine now.
