View Full Version : E-Stop Mounting

The ShopBot assembly manual makes it clear that there are all sorts of ways people can mount (or not) their E-stop. Thought I would share my solution and hope that others would join in to show this variety.

I made a simple mounting plate and attached it to one of the legs (through unused holes).

I would think it would be difficult for someone to top this Stop ...

However, some will probably try.

That is a good idea for mounting the E-Stop but...

Thanks for the picture and the great idea for mounting the indexer!

Curtis and Scott--

What have you done with your E-stops?

John,
I have mounted the single button stop to the front of my control box which is bolted on to the frame at the 0,0 position.
The 3 button stop I've mounted to the wall about head height where I keep my computer. I used to have it mounted lower but I found that I would lean against the wall sometimes and come too close to the stop button. Not the ideal spot but I've gotten used to it.

John,

My E-Stop is on the floor ready to be stomped on properly when required. As a backup, I have a hammer (h-stop) next to the laptop that I use to hit the space bar if that fails. No major problems as of yet.

I added an extra e stop to each end of the table. You have to run the in a series to do this though. I may be adding another to a remote location in my house. I have a camera aimed at the table and control screen.

Jerry,
You must have copied me! lol I have mine set up where i can watch a long 3d carving file without having to sit there. Mine is set up with a wireless camera and I thought it might be a good idea to try to set up an Estop the same way but couldn't figure it out and thought it might not be a good idea to try to go wireless.

John,
Could please give me some details with photos of your indexer?
how it is attached, used from that position. largest stock diameter, connection to your computer?
As you can tell, I am an extreme novice.

Thanks,
Terry

I think I'd go with the theory of the "OS" handle on the passenger side of cars. This is the handle on the door frame or dash that your passenger graps as you come skidding to a stop because you were drinking coffee and talking rather than watching the road.

The label should read "OS STOP SWITCH".

Very nice and readily visable though!

Terry,

Here's a link to a thread where I described my indexer setup, including a link to more detailed photos.
