See the attached picture, look at the "y" at the end of pray and the "w" at the beginning of Without.

I use a 1/2" 60 deg V Groove bit into MDF. Having a problem with consistent depth. If I try to lower the depth then the other letter are cut too deep and become distorted.

Please advise,
Gordon

I would say it is the font you are using.

Your material is not sitting flat to the table and/or the table itself is not flat. Notice how it is shallow on the one side and deeper on the other. Inspect the material and see if you can spot where the problem is. Flatten your table using the TS command.

Are you talking about the parts of the letters I have arrows pointing to? If so I think it is the style of font.

Does it look the same way when you preview the file in your software? If it does, it's the font. If it doesn't it's your table.....

preview is your best friend...view it over, over and over again...learn to trust it

I meant to say the TU command, not TS.

Notice how those thin serifs don't get cut on the left side, but it goes way deep on the right side. As others have pointed out, if the preview shows perfection, then the issue lies in the material or your table.

Note the letter 'a' in 'pray' it appears shallow compared to the 'a' in 'ceasing'. They should be the same in every way.

In addition to what Brady said, but is your material or working stock flat. If it is thicker on one end you will have deeper letters and just the opposite on the shallow end.

If your zero is still known you can fix that and don't ask me how I know this. Anyhow node edit your letters. Then select the letters that did not cut deep enough and increase your z ever so little and recut. repeat until you get the desired depth.

Thanks for you suggestions, I will recut the light area and then see about leveling the surface.
