Trying different double stick tape to hold down small projects with some success. Just tried Fast Cap Ultra Bond tape and does it STICK. My spoil board has been around and a little rough but this stuff really sticks. It is very thin and some what of a challenge to remove from your project. You will need a little solvent to remove the final sticky. The tape is used to install edging on counter tops and is called a permanent adhesive.
Fast Cap 888-443-3748.
O yea you will have to pry it off of your spoil board

Ace Hardware carpet tape that specifically says on the box 'Fiberglass (http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1308855)' or 'Cloth (http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1286644)' is what you want.

I have been having better luck with spray on adhesive. Use a release tape like is used on vinyl signs and then coat it lightly iwth 3M spray gue. Faster and it cleans up a lot easier.

2nd. Also called premask tape- comes from 1" to 48" (at least- that is the
widest I have bought)

I believe that is called 'transfer tape'. It works well with either spray on adhesive, mounting tape or carpet tape - although the spray on adhesives, like contact cement leave a lot less residue.

Tom & Gene - what spray on adhesive do you guys use? Super77 / 90?

I have been using Locktite high performance middle-weight bonding-
seems to work better than the heavy-weight which sprays very coarse
(or coarsely?).
