Here is a simple rustic bench - someone saw my cherry three seater and wanted a larger, back-less version.

Wormy maple, turned the legs on my hydraulic copy lathe and sanded some flats to resemble pcs of log.

The seat is 84" by 19"

Do all the bums have to be the same size?

Andrew, the shape of your seat reminded me immediately of the shape of some of the more expensive ($350-400) wheelchair cushions that are offered to improve upper body stability for paras and quads. You don't make them in closed cell foam and silicon gel do you? Nice.

SCott, I have never tried to do anything other than wood... the only people I know well who use a wheelchair do not live close to me, otherwise I would have probably tried already...

Again, if anyone wants a copy of my seat carve file just ask (email is best).

Another nice piece, Andrew!
Does your carving file extend down the front edge of leg areas to the left and right of the pommel, or do you simply contour it manually when sanding?

The craftsmanship is top notch but the seating I would prefer in a church pew style instead of assigned.

brian if they are assigned seats that means that who ever is setting there has been bad,, unlike the pew style... Being bad can be fun lol

Brian, when you order your bench, I will make it with whatever specs you'd like :D This customer spec'd it just like this. I just do whatever people ask me to do.

Andrew what is in the buckets...

Those are various 5 gallon pails of coloured lacquer. I dont have enough room in my cabinets to store everything...

The empty pails have hangars in them that go onto my spray room wall to support stuff like doors, etc.

AJC

PS the bench is much larger in person than it appears in the cellphone pic. It is just over 7' long, 19 or 20" wide. 19" high. You have LOTS of room :)

Jeff, although I have started to model the front curve - I generally just take a round over bit in the hand held router, followed by some shaping with a #7 and #9 Auriou rasp(s).

I still like to do some hand work on my stuff...

could you post pictures of the hangers. Curious... I use trot line hooks and their quick line attachments. I ALSO USE OLD BREAD TRAYS THAT THE BREAD COMPANIES BRING BREAD TO THE STORES WITH.
Would like to see what you use.
