I've signed up to be at the 1st Colorado Maker Fair in October. I'll be displaying snowboards and showing off the drag knife on a small CNC as well. I was trying to come up with something really clever for the booth, but of course cut entirely with the drag knife. I was thinking in terms of making the entire booth out of cardboard and cutting some sort of kid friendly structure. Maybe something that looks like a castle or something. Perhaps interlocking dinosaurs type puzzle things. Is there anyone out there experienced with that sort of design that would be interested in guiding or helping with the design. Does anybody have any cool suggestions.

I'll be cutting gliders out of foam with the drag knife for kids to walk away with.

"cutting gliders out of foam " How about cutting out a giant model airplne from foam (or cardboard) using your excellent knife (love mine). Download one of the many balsa airplane patterns and scaling it up to fit your bot and cut it out. A little hot glue and would make a great hanging display for your booth. Just a thought. Russ

Hey Sean and Russ,
Do you know about the "Phlat Forum"? It might be a good place to advertise your knife and russ for you to get free patterns

Jack,

Thanks for the suggestion. I have actually e-mailed those guys 3 times and never get a response. I suppose I need to pick up the phone, but so far they don't seem interested, or perhaps they've got a spam filter that's too aggressive.

That's a possibility Russ. I'm thinking more in terms of making a structure from cardboard though.

Hi Sean

I had a chat with Steve travers who I work with on a lot of special type designs and between the two of us I am sure we can come up with a cool booth design for you made from cardboard with your Logo above
we could donate something like this for the cause and some very simple 4 or 5 piece patterns to cut from Cardboard for the kids to make and paint of a few species of Dinosaur
that's if you want a Jurassic theme of course :)

We have to fit a 3X4 Mogul CNC and a Shopbot desktop and some snowboards in the booth space. It should be 10X20, so there is some space. I think most of it needs to be in the corners and the walls.
