Hey everyone. I am running windows 7 with 3.8.6 and noticed something. I am running my bot and the mouse is usually trapped in the stop of the control screen. I inserted my portable hard drive this morning while the cnc is cutting and it popped up the windows explorer screen as usual. I was then able to work in aspire while the cnc was cutting. I did some design in aspire and then went back to the shopbot control screen and clicked stop. The cnc stopped as normal and I restarted it as normal again. The mouse was trapped in the stop button of the control screen as usual. I clicked the windows button on the keyboard and it popped up the windows start screen, bot still running and I could then again work in aspire while the bot is running? Now I dont know if this is a clitch or a new normal feature. If I dont do anything or move the mouse I noticed it changed the screen back and trapped the mouse in the stop button again. I will try to take a quick video later if possible.

Glen, anything more on that? Still in design phase and have a lot of drawing to do, but still so new to the desktop I don't dare let my finger more than a foot from the spacebar. interesting, I didn't think you could do that.

The ClipCursor API call is used to restrict the movement of the mouse within the region over the Stop button. In my experience it is normal behaviour that the activation of another window (such as when plugging in a device) or pressing the Windows button results in allowing free movement of the mouse. The issue relates to a change in the active window. When the active window is changed it releases the mouse, as you experienced. The only thing they could do is detect that ShopBot 3 has been deactivated (lost focus) while cutting and do a Stop. But I guess for now they are not doing that.

My control PC isn't connected to the 'net so end of support doesn't mean a great deal to me. I expect a lot of people are in the same boat.
What will make me change is if and when ShopBot say not to use XP anymore.
