I am new to cncing so this might be a dumb question but here it goes, I need to cut about a dozen 10" x 16" panels with a Roman Ogee edge I was wanting to see how would be the best way to do this. What I did the first time was cut them out on the shopbot and used the hand router to cut the edge but I was hoping to do it all on the shopbot.
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks Johnny

Check whiteside for the bit you are looking for. You should be able to do it no problem. Run the ogee bit then set the offset and run a .23 or.375 straight bit.

I've had good luck using the proper bit. Plunge profile bits will work as well but there are specialty cnc bits out there. If there are any corners, i like to mill across the end grain first along a an offset line and then with the grain again with an offset line. This, just like when hand routing gives you the best chance for clean chip free corners. Once the profile bit is done cut with a straight bit to free the part.

Greetings, Johnny
I find it faster and easier to cut edge profiles on small panels on my router table. A handheld router would be O.K. if you can hold the panels with a vacuum jig so as to not have to move clamps around. As Randy suggests, make your cross grain passes first.
Kind regards,
JIM
