I accidentally inserted the battery in my calipers backwards and now I can't get it out. I've trid banging it out, I tried using duct tape, a magnet, paperclip, ice pick and i'm about ready to throw it across the room but i figurd i'd see if someone had a solution i could try to get it unstuck:confused::mad:

Compressed Air has freed a lot of things for me. I usually have to hunt them down afterwards.

glue a stick to it and pull it out tomorrow. If you use yellow glue, then after it pulls out you should be able to scrape it off easily.

I tried the glue to no avail before, and Brady was closest suggestion. I had some teenie weenie jeweler tools and found something that was like a small screwdriver and wedged it in and it popped out!

If they are Harbor Freight then they have a lifetime warranty.

Brady strikes again, that was my first thought. Darn, thought I might finally start paying back.

I was going to suggest that you drill a small hole in the battery, twist a small screw into the hole and voila yo have a handle. It likely would have ruined the battery but you would still have the calipers.
This technique has gotten me out of a few jambs.

Glad you got it, Jack.
I keep a little tube of Neodymium magnets for stuff like that. Plus I can use them in projects. They're handy little buggers. I get em at Amazon.

I realize I am probably too late to "help", but how about set up a toolpath with the exact diameter of the battery, then you could cut away all of the caliper that is preventing you from getting the battery out.
Using that method would require some novel hold-down to prevent the caliper from moving while you machine away its case!
After all you imply its the battery you want, not the caliper! Glad you got your battery out, now you can throw away the caliper and use the battery again ;)
Alternatively you could have drilled a hole through the caliper case on the opposite side of the battery pocket and pushed it out with a stick.
Fortunately you were smart enough not to drill into a perfectly good MERCURY battery, as it would have created toxic waste, not to mention shorting out the battery and losing all the precious energy.
Its a shame most battery manufacturers don't put a caliper around them for protection!

Fortunately my last resort of using the small jewelers tools worked or i would have gotten a little out of my system by throwing it up against the wall and smashing it.
It's amazing how theraputic smashing something really is! I don't do it very often and certainly not with anything valuable but you should try it sometime.

Destroying the calipers probably would have saved the battery.:D
