So around 15 years ago I had a client who was having me do some remodel work on his boat, and when the subject got around to what he did for a living he told me that his company had developed a steel cutting technology that was designed for the purpose of cutting heavy steel while deep underwater. It's use was for de-commissioning defunct oil platforms (cutting the legs off). Then he said they discovered the most amazing cross use of that same technology. They could use a finer nozzle and cut stone at precise dimensions and shapes as well. Yep-the first water-jet cutter. Needless to say, as VP in charge of sales, he did quite nicely!!!

You can cut wood like that. If the fit is too tight for a small bit you can use a laser.

it is very expensive and very high maintenance. cleaning it is a big chore. Plus it is very messy. sludge disposal is a pain too. Plus it has to be kept busy to pay for it's self. it is a little strange on wood. Plus for the most part our machines are faster.

Dan, can I pick your brain on lasers please. Doing a job on wedding invitations 8x4 x1/8 bamboo with a ton of SUPER small text. Driving me nuts as a strip of six is taking 2 hours 25 minutes. Would fitting a laser to the Buddy speed this up or should one stay away from this kinda loss making work?

Mr. Eustus you may be rastering too slow. and also check your sequence of cut. Sometimes on large product I set for low burn and back fill with black shoe polish. to darken easy to buff off.
