Hi,
I have a shopbot desktop and I am squaring some parts with the CNC but I need a command to start and to turn off the router. I am using then a command like MX10
Thanks for the help...

If it's in a file, SO,1,1 (On) SO,1,0 (Off).
With the keypad up, click the output 1 button. You may also be able to click the output 1 button and then give a MX,10 command without the keypad up.
Alt-1 should also turn on/off output 1.
I don't have a Desktop, so others that do can chime in.
Quick Start Guide touches on it with the Keypad... http://www.shopbottools.com/ShopBotDocs/Desktop/Desktop%20Quick%20Start%20Guide%202013%2008%2014.p df

Thanks for the reply.
I click the output 1 and router does not start.
I do Alt 1 the router starts for a few seconds and turns off.
Any other suggestions?
I do have the latest update from Shopbot for the control software.

Completely out of ideas here.
There is also a C6 command and C7 that turns router off. Router starts for 2 seconds and stops. Ran a test 3" air cut and router started with no issues. I also have the latest firmware on the shopbot :(

It should start when you issue the move command or go to keyboard control.

Hi Sean,
Are you saying for me to do:
ALT 1
then
MX,10 for example?
Right after the move command the router will turn on?

That's correct Tony......what Sean said.
I still use the older 36.44 version but should all be the same.....?
Either use keypad and use mouse to switch on 1 or easier to not use keypad and use ALT 1. Then type in your move command and when you hit enter it will ask you to whether you want to turn on spindle or cancel.
Remember that the spindle command is in memory now so you need to cancel the spindle by typing ALT1 again (No. 1 light next to Out goes out).
Cheers

As a test, if you bring up the keypad, click output 1 (or do Alt-1) and answer yes/ok to the prompt about starting the spindle/router, does it start and continue to run until you close the keypad? If it starts and only runs for a moment, I'd say it's time to call/email support as there may be some other issue at hand.

To add to the last post (stupid 10 min thingy)....
If it stays running until the keypad is closed, that is as it should be. If you open the keypad again (without switching off output 1), it should start again (after answering the prompt).
With the keypad closed and output 1 still on, you should be able to issue a command or string of commands with SI and hit enter/start and after answering the prompt, the spindle/router should come on and stay on until the command is finished and then shut off.
Within a file, it should start at the beginning and shut off when done.
If this isn't the scenario, then you should get in touch with SBHQ

When I do ALT 1 it sees the command but no prompt happens...
Now all of a sudden after I do ALT 1 the M command the spindle prompt comes on and the machine does what it is suppose to...
Weird, weird, weird....
What's even more weird that after I did the MX5 command and spindle started all went good. Then I did MX,-5 and actually moved 10":eek::eek::eek:

I haven't followed this whole thread but your "M" commands are MOVE commands. So if you input MX,-5 you told it to move from it's position of (probably +5" past 0,0) to a position of -5" behind 0 accounting for the 10 movement. I'm not sure where you were inputting your commands to but in the main shopbot interface that would account for it:confused:
Also whenever i enter move commands i never use a comma:
MX10
MY5
not
MX,10
you may have accidentally been typing those commands in the main window?

This is correct behaviour. You first said go to x=5 then you said goto x=-5 10 inches. hth

Dumb question... Are you saying that after I do the MX5 command and if I want the X axis to move to where it started I should type MX0?

Yep all works good now. Sorry for the dumb questions. I am a rookie, so I guess I can make a few dumb questions once in a while :)
At least your guys answers helped me understand the behavior of the ShopBot desktop.

The only 'dumb' questions are those that go un-asked! Don't waste your precious time, post here, get an answer and then get back to work! :D Russ

Thanks Russ. Will do.
I am going to start doing more intricate stuff for my cues. I am using .024" and 0.015" end mills and still have a few 0.009" for some inlay work as well.
This is just a very small example of some ringwork I did and custom joint protectors for shafts. Sorry for the poor image.

This is very high end. A real polish on the work. Not the shine, although perfect, but professional polish/attention to detail in the work. McDermott its not!!
Great job.
It looks kind of like a cloth weave in the wide stripe. Is this resined in or is it texture showing through?

The picture is not very good but basically what you are looking at is maple with 3 veneers glued together. Basically I used a 0.035" end mill to do the grooved and glued the veneer strips on those channels. Those chanels were created using the 4th axis I have on my ShopBot Desktop. The redish material is phenolic and the weave is proper to the material.
The joint protectors you are seeing have a automotive clear coat but they are not wet sanded and polished yet.
There was a thread I started quite a while back that showed some work I did with the ShopBot. Inlay work with abalone and ivory. The ivory is 0.030" wide and the abalone dots are 3mm in diameter.
