anyone know the approx price for the whole package? I have a hsd 4hp and it has more the enough power but it would be good to have a replacement ready to go as I used 2/3 of the bearing life on the hsd.

You may be able to re-use your VFD if it is a compatible unit.

I bought a 3HP a few years back from the link Brady left PDS I think with VFD it cost me $2200. I have been happy with the performance for what I do.
I do not have the card to run it through the SB control I set my speed at the VFD and turn it on and off at the VFD. I replaced a router I can't really see the need for control through the SB control but maybe I am missing something.

Do you think I need the 5hp I only cut faster then 3ips when doing 3d.
will this be setup right for the shopbot and do I need a new mounting plate? should save a little money as I have 3 phase power.

Single phase 5hp are expensive...I've been running a 3ph 5hp for 13 yrs from SB. I have a fresh 5hp & VFD 'spare' on the shelf. I haven't needed it yet. Spindle plate should be the same (depending on year of your tool) - If you have small tapped holes on the 1/2" thick side of the plate (for attaching air drill cage etc), then you should be good. It is a universal plate for all spindles. Earlier ones were spindle specific. If not, I think a new one is around $100 from SB.
The spindle nut configuration on the 5hp is like your 4hp HSD. The 3hp uses an ER25 mini castle nut that I find awkward. Other than this they are both good units. When you order get 1/8 & 3/8 collets too.

When I first bought mine they told me they were making a new hex nut to replace the knuckle buster nut it came with, but the guy told me a time later the threading was off on the ones they had made and they were going to make more. I made more phone calls after waiting a few months and nothing. I have not contacted them in several years now and have just gotten used to the awkward nut.
