Just got my new PRS standard 96x48. 5 days ago

First day had issues with software jogging the gantry around. It was very odd, software would seem to freeze up, i would try to close the control software but some windows would stay up on the screen even after i closed them. I would restart the bot, reboot the PC, but the problem would persist. My first pc was running windows 7, 4 gb ram dual core, second pc is brand new with a i5 Intel processor , 8 gb ram and windows 8. Problem was with both PCs!

Sooooo, I tried running 3.6.* it Seems to have cleared up for now..... Very unsettling after purchasing a new system.

3.8 has some feature that I like such as zeroing all from the yellow controller and memory locations ... But if the issues I'm having are truly with 3.8.8 than forget it.

Shopbot Tech support has been Great, just wanted to get some feedback from the group.

I did do a search for this issue, but could not find anything similar, of course some times I dont think I'm searching right because very often I get no results on issues I know have to be out there!

Any feedback is appreciated, Thanks in advance!!! John

I run 3.6 and i have none of the problems i read about here. I would stick with 3.6 for the moment till some of these issues get resolved, however some guys run 3.8 with no problems.

This is not typical for shopbot to have ongoing problems so i would not be concerned with some glitches.....I suppose you should be lucky you're not trying to sign up for obamacare:eek:

It's strange because when I was running 3.6 it seemed really buggy. My control computer would shut the program down on its own. I lost position all the time and the software would freeze often. Since I moved over to 3.8 I have had absolutely no issues except for a failed Z zero on the second plunge every so often. For my computer, 3.8 runs much better. I have a Lenovo I bought last year at bestbuy for under $250 running windows 7.

A gut feeling based purely on what I remember reading in past threads is that a lot of people who seem to have trouble with 3.8 have relatively highly powered machines while those with no issues are running lower spec machines.
